Sixth Form Overview
Welcome to the Sixth Form at Maida Vale School, a modern, ambitious and welcoming community.
One of the defining features of the Sixth Form at MVS is how different it feels from the world of GCSEs. Walking into the airy, industrial-style Sixth Form study area, students quickly discover a more grown-up, collegiate atmosphere where they are treated as young adults and encouraged to take increasing ownership of their learning, ideas, and future pathways.
What makes MVS special is the freedom students have to shape a pathway that genuinely reflects who they are. There are no rigid subject combinations here. Students might combine Physics, Maths, and Art, or study Economics alongside Design Technology and Psychology. Alongside lessons, London itself becomes an extension of the classroom through exhibitions, lectures, performances, placements, and industry visits across the capital.
We are also incredibly fortunate to have a passionate and inspiring staff body. Our Design Technology teacher previously taught at the Royal Institution of Engineers and was a semi-professional basketball player, our Computer Science teacher is also a tech entrepreneur, and our Maths teacher previously worked in finance and private equity. Students benefit enormously from learning with teachers who bring real-world experience and enthusiasm into the classroom every day.
At the same time, the Sixth Form remains a close-knit and supportive community. Students are known as individuals, supported closely by Personal Tutors, and encouraged to contribute to the wider life of the school through leadership, mentoring, volunteering, sport, and enrichment opportunities.
