The Maida Vale School Sixth Form combines academic rigour with flexibility and choice, offering both traditional academic subjects and vocational pathways such as Creative Digital Media Production.
There are no rigid subject pathways at MVS and students are encouraged to build programmes that reflect their individual interests, strengths, and ambitions. Students regularly combine creative, academic, and vocational disciplines in ways that reflect the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of university courses and careers. With London on the doorstep, learning regularly extends beyond the classroom through lectures, exhibitions, performances, workshops, placements, and industry visits.
Sixth Formers receive eight 90-minute lessons per fortnight in each subject, giving students time to explore ideas in greater depth and develop increasingly independent approaches to learning. Small class sizes allow students to develop close working relationships with teachers and contribute confidently to discussion-based lessons. Alongside their core studies, students may choose to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which encourages academic curiosity, independent research, and critical thinking.
Dedicated supervised study sessions within the Sixth Form timetable help students build effective study habits and manage their time responsibly as they prepare for university and life beyond school. The atmosphere within the Sixth Form is purposeful and collaborative, with students encouraged to think independently, contribute confidently, and take increasing ownership of their learning. Many Sixth Form teachers bring industry and professional experience into the classroom, helping students connect academic study with the wider world.
